Prem Rawat Receives Warm Welcome During First Visit to the Canary Islands

TENERIFE, Canary Islands, June 26th — Prem Rawat presented his message of peace for the first time in the Canary Islands. He addressed a capacity audience in the Auditorio de Tenerife, a spectacular work of modern architecture that has become one of the symbols of this island.

«We are very pleased that Prem Rawat accepted our invitation to speak in Tenerife,» said Hector Barriuso, who was involved in the preparations for the event. «There are many people in the Canary Islands who are familiar with his message through watching his addresses which air on television each week. They are even more interested to hear him speak in person. People have come from all of the islands to hear him.»

Prem Rawat spoke about the human being’s need to feel inner peace: «The request for peace has been there as long as there have been human beings,» he said. «This is the accomplishment that has to happen. There has to be peace. No exceptions. No excuses.»

For the past four decades, Prem Rawat, known also as Maharaji, has been inspiring millions of people around the world to look for inner peace and satisfaction. From Harvard and Oxford Universities and the University of Salamanca to the United Nations in New York and an event associated with the Universal Forum of Cultures in Barcelona, he has presented his message in the most prestigious forums. He is just at ease addressing simple people in the villages of India and Africa, where his message receives an equally warm welcome.

In Tenerife, he said, «Everybody points outside; I point inside. I say: what you need, you already have. Whatever it takes, find peace in your life. This is what’s important. If you cannot find peace, come to me. I can help.»

Many attendees expressed that his words had inspired them in an extraordinary way. Nuria L., housewife, was thankful for the opportunity to listen to him: «I needed to hear what was said today. This message brings me hope.»

Fernando J., an art student, said, «It’s been wonderful to be reminded of what is essential for me.»

«It’s comforting to know that we all carry with us the peace that we need,» commented Luis B., an industrialist. «I was especially touched by how strongly he encourages you to begin the process of searching for peace, whatever your circumstances.»
